1001 Rules for My Unborn Son. It’s witty, cute, poignant and there’s a lot of common sense.

I just downloaded some albums and, Fahrenheit 451, a movie I’ve been wanting for an age.

One of my favourite scenes in the film. (P.S. This is the only film François Truffaut ever directed in English)

I’ll spend the rest of the evening listening to these albums and doing a schedule for my study and assignments and maybe make a collage of different pictures from old issues of Dazed. I’ll also listen to my new albums whilst doing this.

I’ve decided this blog will be easier to write if I write about what inspires me instead of what happens in my life. Hence, from now on, I might mention special events that happen in my life but I will mostly just talk about movies, music and Art.

I recently got a movie out called “Kids” from 1995. I first read about it in Issue 69 of Dazed and Confused when they had an interview with Leo Fitzpatrick who starred as the protagonist of the movie. It’s a very graphic movie but there’s a truth to it about modern teenage life that I love about it. The reckless abandon, the anger, the frustration and all without looking like some shitty angsty emo movie. See it now. P.S. It features a young Chloë Sevigny and Rosario Dawson.

Bianca’s recent forays into photography are beautiful. My favourites being the one of Kevin and the one at Pacific Fair. I would post them but there are too many amazing ones. Especially the one she just posted as I’m writing this. Go see it!

The Adventures of Baron Munchausen directed by Terry Gilliam was recently on ABC2. Gilliam has an ornate and gaudy aesthetic but it’s so over-done that it’s beautiful. He is the anti-minimalist. Outrageous and ridiculous humour. It’s no surprise that he was a member of Monty Python.

I love ABC2. Everyone should have it in their favourites list. Do it. Now.

Erykah Badu is certainly not the style of music to which I usually listen. But she’s sublime, great voice. But she’s also someone who knows how to make a statement. For her most recent video “Window Seat” she stripped naked in the place where John F. Kennedy was assassinated as a statement against groupthink, psychologist, Irving Janis defined it as a mode of thinking that people engage in when they are deeply involved in a cohesive in-group, when the members' strivings for unanimity override their motivation to realistically appraise alternative courses of action. I admire this dedication.

MGMT’s new album “Congratulations”. It’s had a lot of criticism that is good and bad…but I feel that the bad criticism is coming from fans that were hooked by things like Electric Feel and blindly followed the fervent obsession that comes with a Top 40 single. It’s a fantastic album, super psychedelic from the album artwork to the video. So beautiful. I recommend it one and all.

Hunx and his Punx. I’ve talked about him before but he truly is one of my favourite artists. He’s not necessarily the best singer…a bit nasally, but that adds to the atmosphere if the music. Plus, he’s a hotty. Great ‘60s surfer, punk, doo-wop hybrid. I follow him on Twitter and just adore any mention I can find online. I could seriously spend all day listening to his odes to glory holes and rock ‘n roll. Great music, wild slut, hotty. Listen to him. Buy the album. Latest video is below.

Atheism. Do it now. It makes sense. It’s logical. Read/Listen to Christopher Hitchens and Richard Dawkins. They make Renee Foyster hot in the pants. I’ve heard them both debate on Q and A. An Australian TV show where high level politicians and members of society are questioned for opinions or about their actions. Good stuff. ABC. Watch it.

I still love hair, whether it be on your scalp, your face or the body.

But for formality purposes, my beard’s life was cut short. I don’t even think I’ll get the job…

I will just have to grow it back!

Haven’t been able to properly update myself technologically for a while. Try not using the computer for a week, I dare you. Your dependency will scare you.

The last hour or two have been spent reading through unread blog posts (Sartorialist, Garance Doré, Exceedingly Good Keex, Jak & Jil, slutever and FourThousand).

Since looking at all of these blogs, I’ve noticed one of the new trendy colours at the moment in Europe (so in about six months here) is a sort of mix of cream and last season’s favourite mustard.

The Sartorialist shows it off recently with a set of pictures taken backstage at Celine.

It’s often paired with a dark blue something. In the file name camel is mentioned, a fairly accurate description.

A while ago, I read about a man having found a collection of photos of a by-gone gay biker gang (how’s that for alliteration) in Dazed and just today I somehow linked myself to its website. Some great photos:

Glorious hair.

Most people who know me, also know that I am a hirsute gentleman.

Tonight has been a very beard/hair centric night.

It all started with this article.

For those who are not near and missed much, I grew my beard over the Summer.

It’s gone now, but gosh it was glorious.

Then Taylor told me about a lovely singer, similar to Sufjan Stevens. Called William Fitzsimmons.

Now HE has a glorious beard. It puts mine to shame.

It also lead me to this magazine called Pin-Ups. However these are not your traditional pin-ups...

Anyway, I have decided that I am definitely what one would call a bear, more accurately, a cub. And I like it.

The beard’s coming back next holidays everyone.

And just wait till we finish high school.

The Story of Thomas The Lazy Shit

This was written on Thursday 20/09/09, but I’ve only posted it now and I’ve added anything since.

Uhh…yeah, really lazy and kinda busy.

Last Wednesday was a pupil free day so Me, Brooke and Bianca all went to Pacific Fair for a bit of shopping. They had fun, I was poor.

Then on Friday, me and Bianca were planning on going to the Op-Shop but her Mother was late getting back so I had to go myself. At least I got to see her new hair, she shaved it Wednesday evening.

I bought Emily a record, Olivia Newton John’s “Totally Hot”, and a puzzle of the Taj Mahal for her birthday. Not to mention a lap dance.

Then on Sunday, I turned 16. It didn’t really feel like it though because..I think you need a party to really mark the occasion and make it feel significant. My party is this Saturday, but I decided to have a little soirée at G-Clef… we barely had any idea of what to do because all of the remotes and basically everything was in Japanese. Even the staff. But we managed! Wen Wen helped a great deal and it was super awesome because it’s the first time we’ve actually done something. Did some fun and kitschy group songs (Love Shack, Take on Me, Rock Lobster, 99 Luftballoons, etc.)! Good times were had by all. When our two hours were up, we headed to the beach, then home. For some reason, Bianca took a taxi. Halfway home, Bianca texted to tell us the taxi driver was trying to chat her up. Har.

Monday morning at around 1.30am, I was just thinking about how awesome Brooke was and then the Flavour Wave Oven Turbo with Mr. T came on! It was amazing. (Sorry, we’re at the library and Brooke just commandeered my laptop, but what she says is true…at least the infomercial part is…) I started taking pictures for a reason unbeknownst to me…

He kicked the freaking door in. Extreme!

So on Friday, Me, Brooke, John, Mizuki, Nora, Chiara, Lucas and some of the other internationals went to see Black Forest, our school’s Drama festival entry. It was really rather good, Mr. Pickersgill is a genius. Afterwards, we went to Surfers and took photo booth pictures, played DDR and ate Gelati. I haven’t been bothered to collect all of these pictures yet, but may post them soon.

Then on Saturday, I spent most of the day clearing up and preparing the backyard for my party that night. Not to mention, I had started to come down with something that Friday and was congested constantly! But, the party ended up being a great success, but I have decided I must threaten people to teach them the importance of RSVPing!! Simple courtesy helps everyone! Mum made a delicious ice cream cake, we had pizza, lots of fire, and hide and seek in the park. But it was all so exhausting to organise and so hot, not to mention the fire and my costume. I changed twice because it was so hot. Next year, everyone else has to organise my birthday party. Also, I couldn’t find my camera until after the party, so there aren’t many pictures of me… : ( But Mizuki took quite a lot of photos of the party! I will geth the pictures soon.

Sunday was simply recovery day. And a bit of cleaning up.

Monday morning was blah. Then I got to English and Yichen gave me my birthday present, one of those message bean stalk things that says Happy birthday…I’m actually looking forward to it growing…

Then the day, went on as normal, but today was ridiculously hot, not to mention for WINTER!! 31° C!! But at least it wasn’t a humid heat like it so often is in Queensland. I was to launch some water rockets with Leila for our EEI after school. But Mr. Aumeerally cancelled as, it was just too hot. So I went to Benowa Gardens with Bianca and Kevin, we chilled at Zaraffa’s for a while and then KFC. I picked up the new Dazed…at least for me it was new. And then went to Bianca’s to just chill until Mum came to pick me up.

When I got home, I just set up my laptop in my room and started going at it with Daft Punk playing, opened my window fully (I always love that for some reason), Mum was making Japanese Curry, I had the new Dazed, and I was looking at Lookbook, not to mention Darcy invited me onto Lookbook!! It was pure bliss. After that, I sort of flicked around the TV channels looking for something good…as it got later, there was less and less of that. I don’t like Miss Universe, so trashy, the judges are douchey and…blargh. I keep trying to watch 8½ by Federico Fellini, but you need to be paying attention because of the subtitles, and I’m too busy.

I had some great fun on Tuesday, we started making the water rockets. Leila forgot to bring the materials though so we just scabbed some materials from Zach and Sean and such. They were all terrible.

There was a model that came with the experiment.Sean was impresssive to say the least.
Our rocket is the most impressive and exciting thing one could imagine.

Next day, it was Sam Tram’s (you have to say her full name. always) birthday. Hurrah. Olivia gave her a rainbow unicorn as seen below, I was jealous. We got her lollies and such from Coles and had Zaraffa’s before school.

Hot Mia, Hot.

Did some more rocket making, this time Leila, Luke (a new student) and I made a rocket out of a 600 mL bottle with a short, curved nosecone. It should have worked better but for some reason it performed a loop-de-loop. I then caught the bus to Aus Fair with Brooke and Mia (Jed too but he left immediately on arrival), we just sorta chilled and ate. I then was told to wait until about 5:15 to be picked up by Dad, so I was left with nothing to do for a while and headed to the Internet place near Hungry Jacks where I saw Zach working. Apparently from the distance, my glasses look like those glasses with the fake eyes inside so you can sleep with them on and not be noticed (what bullshit). Then I ran into someone I haven’t seen for a while, Samantha!She’s full time Rockabilly now.

We had a lovely chat as she got a quick bite before her Rock ‘n Roll dancing group, she’s working as a telemarketer now and she’s lovely as usual. Then, we had to run off to our respective destinations.

After school on Thursday, Bianca and I wandered around Benowa Waters looking for donations for the 40 Hour Famine. I started to feel to awkward around there, so I decided to wait and do it around my neighbourhood so I feel more comfortable. There were some lovely people, people who were scared we’d judge them and one extremely rude lady who’s gonna get what’s coming to her one way or another. It was exhausting. A lot of the houses aren’t actually lived in regularly…Oh and we found out where Yichen’s been! She’s been REALLY sick with a sort of flu or something. I hope you get better Yichen!!

Yesterday, I finished the application for captaincy, I’m pretty pleased with it. Mrs. Corbett then went over some stories and things we’ll be doing as TIP leaders (a sort of mentor or something for the year eights each year). I really like her, she’s just great. After school, I headed off to Brooke’s and we chilled for a bit then we decided to go visit Bianca at work. She then decided that we would use transport to get there, she took Nathan’s bike and I took a crappy rip off of those razor scooter things.

Terrible…we got Silence of the Lambs and Brooke fell asleep halfway through when we were watching it. But I’ve learnt it’s pointless and mean to wake her up when this happens. We woke up and I forced her to watch it from whence she’d fell unconscious. She didn’t mind it, I really enjoyed, I thought it was beautifully made. We then watched Scary Movie 2 for some lolz. And then, The Royal Tenenbaums, I have the feeling she liked this a fair bit. I know I do :P Plus, we ordered pizza, online! Nommers. I then returned home to chill some more. I did a pick-up for dog shit in the garden, I don’t handle shit well…I kept gagging and retching. This afternoon has been slightly stressful, but also relaxing…

Tomorrow is Village Markets time, tops! I just hope there’s Men’s stuff this time. Then after, I’m hoping to go to G Clef for karaoke! Better start getting ready! Byes.

I was going to finish my draft monologue for English and my French journal…but I didn’t. I was also going to do a special comic for Renee about…well…I’ll leave it till I finish. And I almost finished this blog, but I simply don’t have enough time. I’ll talk about this week next chance I get, and I have more pictures now.

I cannot explain it…but I am ridiculously tired. Always. More than likely because of a lack of sleep….yeahhh.

Maybe I’m wearing my glasses too much?

On Samedi, I think I slept in till 10…maybe…and then texted a bunch of people to see if they wanted to do something and I eventually ended up having Blonde Tom and Leila come over and chill, watch Skins for a bit.

Then we chilled in Surfers for a bit, had more pizza…fucking Hazel Tea Shop was shut! Then wanted to go to the Karaoke place with Leila and Tom so I texted Mizuki and asked where the nearest place was and it turned out she was in Surfers too! And only a little way away from Circle on Cavill so we all met up as evidenced by the below photos. Leila didn’t have many clean pants…hence the green pants…it was easy to spot her in crowds. We then wandered a bit and eventually left.

Dimanche, I was a complete ass and therefore forgot to text Miho to do something. Brroooeke told me to come over after she finished work so, I was late. Brooke was ruining “28 Days Later” for Sheree when I arrived, by fast-forwarding through the parts Brooke didn’t like and…just generally ruining it. Then we headed off to buy ingredients for a cake and for sweet, sweet sustenance. I had pizza for the third time that weekend. Bought loads of junk food and then supervised Brooke and Sheree while they cooked…supervising is still cooking. We then watched “Waitress”, which was nice :) Very culinary day.

I woke up this morning and Mum had already left to go to Lightning Ridge. the house is going to be in such disarray without her. School was pretty blah today. My eyes were stinging with tired alll day. A shit storm got started when Sheree accidentally sent a text bitching about Bianca Sands…to Bianca Sands. Chemistry is going into my head now…kind of. I wish my Grandmother had a mobile because it makes her picking me up so annoying. I had a Brown Sugar Milk and Coffee Jelly Bubble Tea Craving today…and through some confusion with Dad and Grandma, I had to go straight home. Grandma needs to be taught to do the shopping properly, I will train her. Brooke came over and we vegetated. And stuff happened and such….yeah. So now, I’m tired. I’m gonna go to Zarraffa’s early in the morning (for me) tomorrow. I need to take more pictures!! I’ve slowed down because…I dunno…it takes effort?

Is it possible to make my uniform stylish…whatsoever?

That’s what I was wondering a second ago. I can be fucked putting it all back on after I just spent a good amount of time playing around with it and other accessories. But it seems my mind feels like a sort of punk mood….but for some reason it ended up choosing like ‘50s accessories. Probably influenced by the videos I just watched of Hunx and His Punx and The Younger Lovers…actually all of the videos are by Justin Kelly, so it’s his fault.

So basically, if I want to be uber stylish in my school uniform, I have to wear these new, black, chunky shoes I just bought at the op-shop, I tuck in my shirt a bit, but leave it sort of flowing out. Then, I get this awesome hanky that has this little kids pattern of ABC and learning and shit all over it. Wear my usual glasses. And also wear this…I think it’s caled a flat cap, it’s sort of a mixture of brown tones checked with that weird pattern that reminds me of Myers. The punk element would be the shoes, the rest is well…completely ‘50s…maybe earlier.

I’m watching season two of Skins right now, when I should be sleeping, because it’s school tomorrow…FUCK! Why am I doing this…? School is the only time when I hate everything in the morning. If I woke up anywhere else in the morning, I’d be fine. I doubt I can sneak in a shower at this time either…I’ll have to wash my face ( I got my benzoyl peroxide back, too many pimples), brush my teeth and such in the kitchen basin…

Nothing major’s been happening lately. Just school. Oh wait, there was Footloose and all that, but I can’t be fucked so just ask me at school. If I get sick of everyone asking, I’ll do a post on the experience.

Farewell Sonja and Marley…

I’ve completely lost track of what I did and when I did it. But yet again! Pictures to the rescue!

If I recall…this must have been Monday…or was it…it has to be…yeah, just checked the date on the infrared transfer on my phone and it’s Monday. So I met up with Marley at Aus Fair around 12: 30 or 1. She tried bubble tea for the first time. We then bussed it to Surfers to meet up with Sonja. These photos ensued. Later that night, Brooke, Bianca and I had a three-way chat and disturbed my parents frequently. It lasted quite a while.

Tuesday, I went to Bianca’s and me, Brooke and Bianca headed to KFC and got one of those group meals or whatever and ate it in Rosser Park. Brooke started feeding the ducks and ibises, chicken…we’re terrible. We also started putting the food near Bianca causing them to charge at Bianca…yep, terrible. I , then, started swinging a water bottle at them whenever they got close. LOTS of picture taking ensued as some people will be able to see on my Myspace. Then, I had to briefly do some practice for one of the numbers in Footloose. Afterwards, we headed back to Bianca’s and watched “Paris, je t’aime” again so that Brooke could watch it. Followed by “Pretty in Pink”, which was a bit corny but really awesome and I can’t believe 2 and a half men guy used to look and be so cool. Bianca’s Grandmother then kindly forced us to eat some noodles, YUMMO!! We would have then gone to Zaraffa’s…but they were closed so we headed to a Service Station…then home.

On Wednesday, Sonja came over and I gave her some new music and then we caught a ride with Mum to Surfers. We then did a bit of shopping for us and a bit of shopping for Sonja’s friends and family. I finally got a pair of skinnies to go with my cowboy boots, some Cheap Mondays, but they almost don’t feel like denim jeans because they are so thin. Then we went to Aus Fair to get some bubble wrap, USB stick and some other stuff for Sonja’s trip back. We met up with Domi and Aleshia and larked about and such, had Asian Grocery store fun.

Thursday, I slept in until 1, then went to get my glasses fixed up and readjusted and bumped into Brooke who was half an hour early for work and since I had 10 minutes to kill, we headed to the op-shop and got Brooke a Black lacy blouse with shoulder pads. Oh I just remembered, I got a job interview for Max Brenner’s on Tuesday! Good luck to me. Anyway, my glasses were better than ever and I headed off to Surfers to see Sonja for the last time. We started chatting and we headed up to Timezone to go to the black and white photo booth. We took two lots, I have one and Sonja has the other.

We then headed to Zaraffa’s to have some tea and chat a bit more. We exchanged addresses and walked down to the bus stop and we hugged for ages. We would end a hug and then I’d want to hug her again. It was like I couldn’t walk away from her. On the bus, I listened to “Oh! You Pretty Things” by Bowie and it reminded me of her. Then, it was off to Pac Fair to farewell Marley. Marley, Janna, Mandy and I wandered around and did things and stuff. Had a very fun bus ride home with us and Estelle. I’m losing the plot with Heroes and enjoying Oz. I need to do some exercise tomorrow. I also need to catch up with with everyone else!

I have had a big weekend but I really cannot be bothered going through it all at the moment and going into the trouble of scanning and taking pictures of some stuff I want to show you all…soooo. I am just going to talk about going to Bianca’s last night as I already have pictures from that up.

Annywaiizz. My family and I had just visited Marina Mirage (I’ll take more about this soon) and Bianca had rung asking if I wanted to come over, I naturally said yes, as I don’t get to see Bianca too often. Anyway, on the way home, I got dropped off at her place and soon after we headed to Zaraffa’s to chat and bitch and…ramble and such. I tried Chai tea for the first time, I must say it is quite nice. Warm and Spicy. But I was not in the right mood for spicy. So I ended up getting a green tea as I felt like something refreshing, and the barista was nice enough not to charge me as she said “It’s alright, I made you try the chai.”

We then headed over to the video store…well technically it should be called DVD store…but “video store” has been ingrained in my brain since I was a young‘un. I wanted to get Milk but Bianca could only really get ones that had a longer borrowing time of like 3 days or a week. So we ended up getting “Paris, je t’aime” and “The Tracey Fragments”. We saw most of PJT, so weird/funny/cute/sad. And most of the start of Tracey Fragments. I like the way it’s made. Fantastic editing and directing, not to mention the soundtrack which is actually put together by Broken Social Scene. I had fun and eventually left at 9 when Bianca’s Mum was due to arrive. But before I left, I got to watch the Rove interview with Bruno (Sacha Baron Cohen). Quite entertaining, he’s simply so good at his job.

I just discovered that Nouvelle Vague has a new album coming out and I’ve had a listen to it on iTunes and it’s sublime. I can’t wait to get it.
I have recently acquired Phoenix’s new album, I could aptly describe it as…slightly less funky and much poppier than"United”. My favourite song from it would have to be “Lisztomania”. It sounds like something you’d listen to on a Summer car drive.
I seem to be in a lo-fi mood recently since I’m planning on acquiring the Vivian Girls' self-titled debut album and the Radio Dept’s debut album.

I really want to see Samson and Delilah and Sunshine Cleaning.
The “Where The Wild Things Are” movie is coming out and looks super cute.
I wanna see “Bruno”…looks hilarious…

Well, I finally have a chance to do some work on this blog of mine.

I have just downloaded “Bat for Lashes” so we will see my opinion soon probably. Maybe. Recently I’ve been liking, Phoenix’s debut from 2000, United a lot. Super funky. Maybe of equal or more funkiness than Chromeo. AND THAT’S FUNKY!

Anyway. Saturday was a busy one. I had to get ready for Bianca Sand’s birthday party at Australia Fair/Broadwater Park. I ended up being fairly late. Then we wandered Aus Fair for a while and we picked up bits and pieces of food along the way. We stopped by Sam’s Warehouse and looked at all the terrible $2 DVDs on offer. But I found “Psycho Beach Party”!! I was happy :) Me, Bianca, Brooke and Laura (new person I don’t know but hey she seems nice) bought a KFC bucket thing together. Then we all found a spot in the shade in the park and all sat down to eat. I had a lots of chicken and chips washed down with Pepsi Max and cookie dough. We then sat around for a while and eventually we had to leave.

Then it was off to Grandma’s 70th. I quickly changed and wandered around all the relatives and friends saying quick hellos and such…then I don’t really know. But I did something in that time to occupy myself, but I can’t really remember anything. There was jelly in little shot-glass size plastic cups that looed like Listerine. Annoying children. But Grandma was happy, that’s all that mattered, and she’s had lots of compliments and such from her friends.

Sunddaaayyyy. I had planned to go to The Village Markets with Renee and Sonja at 9:30 am (meaning I would have to leave at 9). Turns out I fell asleep and forgot to set my alarm and was luckily woken up by a text from Sonja asking when I’d pick her up. So I spent most of my time I had left, picking out an outfit. I eventually worked something out. I wore my Bally brogues, white Golf Punk denim shorts, my mustardy brown tiny elephant print shirt (used to be Papa’s), a cream woolen vest and Renee’s white cardigan. So eventually I left at around 9:15 and we picked up Sonja and arrived. Sonja told me about the party she had been to the previous night and what was happening in the world of Sonja. Apparently, there was a stripper at the party and she had sucked on a lollipop, shoved it up her vagina, then done like a handstand, then a split eagle so that everyone could see the lollipop stick poking out…it makes me wonder…does she use a certain brand? Is it cock-flavoured? Do the chemicals burn the vaginal walls or scrape them?

I started wandering…hoping they would take another style snap…alas the didn’t but I went over to Bangdoll Vintage and they had the cowboy boots I had seen all that time ago at my first visit to the Village Markets. I was so happy, but I had no cash, so I had to mosey on over to James St. to get money out at the ATM. So me and Sonja started the walk and suddenly Renee and her Mum arrive, we tell them I need to get money and such. We return to find Renee waiting for us at the entrance and we continue fossicking through the stalls. I saw Raquel’s mum, Naomi, who is just lovely. Every time I see her she’s just so nice…I want to get a job at her shop…I should ask her. Anyway, we had a lovely chat and then I moved on to investigate the stall I like probably the most, Debris Blanc (it translates into French as “White Trash”), simply delightful clothing items that if I had the money, I would fork out cash like that to buy some of their stuff. This reminds me. In a few weeks I will most likely be broke. I am down to spending my Savings. I need a job or I need to get used to poverty. But I found this cute vintage Dior jacket in their vintage section. I had to buy it…I did.

Anyway, soon after we left and went to a café for breakfast on this little road bridging the highway and James St. It wasn’t too bad. Pretty tasty. The sausages were terrible though…otherwise fine. We then just chatted about things and chilled. Until we were finished and we headed off to Pac Fair, we proceeded to wander some more and then just headed back home. I just relaxed after that.

Today. I basically used today to relax and do nothing…I probably should have worked on my homework more than I did…anyway. This week I will be…I don’t know what I’m doing. Something! Anyway, I need to sleep. Pics are coming soon of the aforementioned boots and jacket.

I haven’t been posting as frequently because I’ve had much more homework and study to do and have been taking advantage of what free time I have….wait what am I saying, I’ve spent hours pissing away time on the Internet and TV. So. it’s a mixture of my time-pissing and extra study. I might as well go over yesterday and today.

BREAKING NEWS PEOPLE!: My mother is a grumpy so and so, so I have to get off and go to bed. I’ll post pics of my purchases at The Village Markets tomorrow. Sorry for the lies, Darcy.

Yes. I have finally got the time and motivation to do a blog. I think I just needed a break.

I know it sounds silly needing a break from simply recording my days and thoughts onto a website, but maybe it’s emotionally tiring? Maybe I simply have to use a lot of energy to remember things like that?

I thought I’d recommend some tunes. For your enjoyment and to maybe get a better understanding of my tastes. These are some things I’ve downloaded recently.

Chromeo: I could just call them electro funk. But they are so much more than that! Yes, they released their album oh so long ago (in internet time) but when you’re in a happy mood and the sun is shining there’s nothing better than grooving and shaking (to the laughter of others) to their funky beats. For some reason they remind me of Miami whenever I hear them despite them being from Canada!

Sigur Rós: I’ve loved this band for a while now, but I haven’t listened to them for a while. I recently downloaded “Takk…” and as soon as I listened to the first song to come on (my brain isn’t the only thing on shuffle). I was just overjoyed. I had such a deep feeling of bliss, purity and happiness despite not understanding a fucking word! Their compositions are so powerful and sweeping that you have no need to understand the words to see the beauty of the song. It really just makes me envious of Icelanders because if the composition is this beautiful, I can’t even begin to think how breath-taking the words must be.

The Middle East: Turns out The Middle East is both a tumultuous hot-bed of violence, war and death but also a rather serene indie-folk band. Talk about irony. If so they get some cred for having for having fun with the name. But will they change their name like so many other bands? (Refer to “The Muslims”) To describe their sound…well I shall quote my kind friend, Sir Darcy. “Very Fleet Foxes meets Arcade Fire meets Mum's 80s knitwear.” That about sums it up. What surprises me most is that such a fantastic band had emerged from Townsville! I think my loathing of small towns contributes to this surprise (Or rather shock?). As if we listen to the music we cannot help but think of the lonely stretches of highways out West, places of relaxation and contemplation that are, like I said, rather serene.

I’m also going to rave a bit about Gucci’s perfumes. I simple adore Gucci’s self-titled perfume for men, Gucci. But I cannot blame them as this enchanting scent is a fantastic personification of the brand. Unfortunately, I cannot remember it well enough to describe it to a T. I can copy and paste a description of the Internet.

Anyway, I will not spend a ridiculous amount of time recounting ALL of the days I missed. I do plan on sleeping at some point…I know I’m surprised that I'm saying that too, but I simply can’t go on dodging homework and assignments to ridiculous hours…I will still do it a bit, but not as outrageous as for previous assignments…

Uhh…the Musical is starting to loom over us as we realise that we need to get this done and polished. Luckily, rehearsals have been a breeze for me, they don’t really require much effort. A lot of sitting down really. It’s also become easier than when I was a young ‘un because I have matured a lot since then.

I’ve been observing the grade eighters and niners…and I just think…what fucking retards…but we have to forgive them for this. Yes, we may loathe them. But we so easily forget what we were like at that age. So for the good of their self-esteem I urge everyone to simply humour them and talk to them seriously when they get out of hand (as we all know they can get).

Anyway, I suppose we’ll start at the beginning!
I actually managed to get up early this morning. Can you believe it? But it was because I need to get a Maths C assignment dead and buried and the only times this is possible are before school, at lunches and after school. This is because I need to use “Mathcad” which can only be found in the Maths Block computer lab. I had resigned myself to never doing it at lunch time since school without a break is death. Therefore I concluded I will have to try and get as much as possible done in mornings and after school and hope.
My plan failed…see we had to spend about 5 to 10 precious minutes reversing out of the driveway because Dad had the trailer attached to the Ute. When I got to school it was simply too late so I surrendered and just went to the sort of meeting area for everyone in the mornings.

The day was a blur of information and learning and such…really quite dull. I don’t want to hear about and its my life.

I had to go to a Physics Tutorial briefly after school since we will lose some time due to public holidays…it was so pointless…I don’t know why we had to do it…

I headed over to Zaraffa’s to wait for Mum and stumbled upon Renee and Jess. Renee had to leave shortly after, so me and Jess headed over to sit with Theresa, Sian and…other German girl who’s in my French class…I forget her name.

Oh and I forgot to mention that me and Bianca are finally in The Village Markets blog for our style snap.

My legs look short…and I’m squinty…but I still feel special (not the retarded way).

By the way! The next markets are on this Sunday people! Get over there to support this fantastic event! It’s got some great stuff and there’s something there for everyone. It’s salvation in this world of limited possibilities for male retail therapy. But I will probably have to borrow out of my Savings account to pay for everything that day…I WILL TOP IT UP WHEN I GET A JOB! Everyone remind me…

Anyway…you’ve all seen my last post…let’s never speak of that night again…let’s relive it through the magic of pictures!

So yeah…oh that vomit is JD’s.

As you all saw, I went down first…at one point I wrote a letter for Aysha…I hope she burns it.
Later on everyone joined me…just as I was coming back into a normal state of mind.
I originally managed to steal Renee’s bed. But I woke up at around 4 and chatted a little. Renee used this distraction to get her bed back. So I got myself prepared for some sleep before I had to go home. So I finally finished my pre-slumber ritual, when…there was no where to sleep…I could have slipped into bed with JD…which would lead to a freaked out JD in the morning (good for the lulz) but he had puked in that room…and a bit on the sheets…NO THANKS. BTW Anyone notice the chips? So I took a leather recliner, but everytime I moved it made a squeaking noise…not sleep conducive so I moved to the floor and so did Taylor and we shared a box of tissues as we both had the sniffles. Then Katie and Renee started shouting obscenities, “Diddle”, “Cunt”, etc. but after a long wait, they stopped…and finally I could sleep. I woke up to Mum texting me and telling that I was being picked up at 9. So I got my stuff together and they all whined about how I wouldn’t be there to clean up…I said my punishment was that I had to go to Yamba…that shut them up.

Got home! No time for a shower! Off to Yamba…

We got there…I hate small towns. There are mosquitoes everywhere. I don’t want to relive this terrible experience so I’ll summarise it.

NOTHING TO DO.

A restaurant with pathetic service and no tablecloths.
Sleeping in most of the day.
A thick shake with Mother.
A closed Op-Shop.
Time to get ready to go.

I’ve told people who’ve been there this and they say “But it’s pretty!”….the scenery is the same in every other fucking small coastal town…I got souvenirs though!

The hundreds of mosquito bites that are somehow all over my body! Even in places that were exposed for very short amounts of time (i.e. hips, ass, back)!!

I’m home now. It’s a relief. Donna tried to get my crush’s number but they’d forgotten it…I was very depressed for a long time after that night at Renee’s…Brooke and Renee might recall conversations on Friday night about how depressed I was. I wrote a few things in iTouch notes I’ll re-write here. Uhh…it’s really lovely being back home and Darcy was on MSN for the first time in ages, which was nice. Today has been a definite improvement.
